Hi, this is Marco with eDirectory, and welcome to the getting started video series.  In this edition, we’ll cover connecting your domain name to your new eDirectory website.  It’s really easy to do, and it can be done in 3 easy steps, so let’s get started!

First, you’ll need to go to the domain name registrar where you purchased your domain name.  Every registrar works a bit differently with navigation, but in general go to the management section of the specific domain name you’ll be connecting to your new eDirectory website and click “Manage, edit, or configure”, once there, find “Domain Name Server Settings”, or “DNS Settings”.

While in the DNS Settings of the specific domain name you’ll be connecting, you’ll see several blank fields, there, just paste the following servers to those empty fields. We provide a Master server, as well as several secondary servers to maintain redundancy around the clock.  They look something like this… “ns20.arcasolutions.com”.

Once you’ve completed adding the nameservers in the DNS settings of your domain name as mentioned above, all you’ll need to do next is send an email to Support@eDirectory.com and we’ll point your site right back!  It may take up to 48 hours depending upon your registrar, so be sure to check your directory site to confirm it’s live within that time period.  One domain name is per license or subscription.

Also, keep in mind, if you intend to use a different email system and do not plan to have your outbound system emails within your eDirectory site to be sent with your domain name, then you just need to change the “A record” of your domain name, and not the DNS Settings.  You’ll need a unique server for this and one will be provided for you free of charge, simply request it from the eDirectory Support team and we’ll send it on over right away!

Ok, well that about wraps up our coverage of connecting your domain name to your new eDirectory website.  If you have any questions or need assistance, please submit a support ticket, start a chat on the website, or email Support@eDirectory.com and a member of our success team will be happy to assist you! Thank you for tuning into the Connect your Domain video, and I’ll see you in the next one!
