Introduction


Banners are essential tools for advertising products, services, or events in an image format. In eDirectory, banners play a crucial role in promoting businesses and attracting visitors' attention. There are five different types of banners available on eDirectory: Leaderboard, Large Mobile banner, Square Banner, Skyscraper Banner, and Sponsored links. Each type has specific sizes tailored to fit various sections of your directory website.




Follow the step-by-step instructions below to learn how to add a banner on eDirectory


1. Log in as Site Manager


Upon logging in, navigate to the Content Manager tab located on the left side of the screen.



2. Access Banners:


Once in the Content Manager, click on the "Banners" option.


3. Add a New Banner:


To add a banner, simply click on the "Add Banner" button located in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.



 


4. Add banner form


Upon clicking on the "Add banner" option, a form will be displayed to be filled out with the banner information. 



Banner Type: choose one of the options from the banner type dropdown. When selecting a Banner Type, it's essential to understand the specifications for each option:


  • Leaderboard: the leaderboard banner dimension is 728px x 90px, and it is in the horizontal format.

  • Large Mobile Banner: the large mobile banner dimension is 320px x 100px, it is displayed in a row of three banners and has a rectangular format. It is the only banner allowed to be displayed on both the mobile version of the site and the app


  • Square Banner: the square banner dimension is 250px x 205px, it is displayed in a square format in one column of two rows in the listing, browse by location or category widgets. 


  • Wide Skyscraper: the wide skyscraper banner dimension is 160px x 600px, and it is displayed in the vertical in the listing, browse by location or category widgets. 



  • Sponsored links: the sponsored links dimension is 320px x 100px, it is displayed in a row of three banners and has a rectangular format. This is the only banner that does not require an image to be added, since the banner is generated automatically by the system once the required banner fields are filled. 




Note: Each banner type corresponds to a specific widget for display. For detailed information on which widgets display each banner type, refer to this article: Banners



Caption: type in the caption or title for your banner.


Attention: it is important to notice that the caption field is used only for the site manager and sponsor management, and it is not displayed on the banner itself.



Provide Basic Information: under Basic Information, select the account for which the banner is intended, along with the Status and Renewal Date.




Choose Display Section: Select the section where you want your banner to be displayed. It is essential to understand where the banner is displayed on each option.


  • General Pages: if this option is selected, the banner will display in all pages that are not related to the module's URLs, such as results page, detail page, advertise page, home page, contact us, FAQ page, terms of use and privacy pages.
  • Listing: if this option is selected, the banner will only display in the pages related to listings, such as listing home page, listing all categories page, listing detail page, and listing all locations page.
  • Deal: if this option is selected, the banner will only display in the pages related to deals, such as deal home page, deal all categories page, deal detail page, and deal all locations. 
  • Event: if this option is selected, the banner will only display in the pages related to events, such as event home page, event all categories page, event detail page, and event all locations. 
  • Classified: if this option is selected, the banner will only display in the pages related to classifieds, such as classified home page, classified all categories page, classified detail page, and classified all locations.  
  • Article: if this option is selected, the banner will only display in the pages related to articles, such as article home page, article all categories page, and article detail page.
  • Blog: if this option is selected, the banner will only display in the pages related to blogs, such as blog home page, blog all categories page, and blog detail page.
  • Global Banner: if this option is selected, the banner will display in all the pages of the website. 


Note: In order to display the banner in the pages it was selected to display, make sure that the pages have the corresponding widgets to display the banners. In order to check if the pages have banner widgets to display, navigate to Design → Page Editor:
Check inside the pages that the banner was selected to display, that the widgets are configured in the page.

Category: It is possible to configure the banner to display under a determined category when the banner is set to be displayed either on Listing, Deal, Event, Classified, Article, or Blog.


Add Destination URL: Enter the URL where visitors will be directed upon clicking the banner. Optionally, you can add a Display URL at this stage.


Set Banner Behavior: Decide whether you want the banner to open in a new window when clicked by a visitor.




Include Script Code (Optional): If you intend to add a banner by script code, tick the box to "Show by Script Code" and input the script code in the provided box. This is typically used for banners like Google Adsense.



Note: If you use the option to display the banner by code, it is not necessary to add a banner image on the image field. Enter Promotional Code (Optional): If you have a promotional code to provide to your customer, type it in the designated field.

Upload Banner Image: Under the "Image" section, click on "Add File" to upload an image file to accompany your banner.


Note: If you add the banner image on the image upload field, do not add a script code on the script banner field. 



Save Changes: Once all necessary details are filled, click "Save Changes" located in the upper or bottom right-hand corners of the screen to save your banner.
