What is an OG image?

Introduction

When sharing your website on social media, you want it to look professional and visually appealing. Open Graph (OG) images play a crucial role in how your site appears on platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. These images help ensure that your brand is represented consistently, making your content more engaging and clickable.

What is an OG Image?

An OG image tag is a metadata element that allows social media platforms to display a designated image—typically your logo or a custom graphic—when your site is shared. This helps reinforce brand identity and improve visibility in social feeds.

Customizing Your OG Image in eDirectory

Uploading a custom OG image is available in eDirectory version 13.2 and above.

For versions 13.1 and below, or if no OG image is set in the SEO Center, your site's main logo will be used by default.

How to Upload a Custom OG Image

To customize your OG image in eDirectory, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the SEO Center in the Promote section.
  2. Click on General SEO Settings.

  1. In the OG Image section, select Choose File.

  1. Upload a JPG or PNG file with a minimum recommended width of 600px.
  2. Click Save Changes to apply the update.

Once saved, the new OG image will be displayed when your site is shared on social media.

Conclusion

Using a well-designed OG image enhances your site's presentation on social media, making it more visually appealing and increasing engagement. By setting a custom OG image, you ensure that your brand is displayed exactly as intended, helping to attract more visitors and strengthen your online presence.
