Introduction

Recurring payment, also known as auto bill, is a feature available with some payment methods on eDirectory. When enabled by the site administrator, this option allows customers to be automatically charged every month, eliminating the need for manual payments to renew their subscriptions.

This option is available for the following payment methods:

  • PayPal
  • Authorize.net
  • Stripe

How to Enable Automatic Billing on eDirectory

To enable recurring payments on eDirectory, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your site’s admin panel.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Products & Plans > Additional Settings & Payment Gateways.
  3. Find the option to Enable Auto Bill, turn it on, and save your changes.

That's it! Auto Bill will now be enabled for customers using one of the supported payment methods.

Important Consideration

  • Auto bill will only work if one of the compatible payment platforms is correctly configured on your site.

For detailed setup instructions for each platform, please refer to the setup guides linked below:

With these steps, your site will be ready to offer the convenience of automatic billing to your customers!

How It Works in Practice

After automatic billing is set up, your customers will be able to sign up on the site, choose their desired payment cycle (e.g., monthly, annually), and, based on the signup date, the system will automatically charge the user at the beginning of each new cycle.

  • If the customer selects a monthly plan, the payment will be automatically charged one month after the signup date, and the same process will happen every month.
  • If the customer opts for an annual plan, the payment will be charged on the same day, but annually.

Step-by-step for the User:

  1. The user clicks on "List with us" and selects the desired plan.
  2. The user registers on the site.
  3. On the payment page, the user selects their payment cycle (monthly, annual, etc.) and clicks "Confirm Payment" to enter their payment details.
  4. After completing the payment, the user is redirected to their logged-in area, where they can view the chosen plan, payment cycle, and the next billing date.
Important: Automatic billing will be available only if the customer chooses to pay with a credit card or PayPal.

When the renewal date arrives, the system will automatically charge the customer, activate the plan, and display the next invoice date, repeating the process for each subsequent cycle.

Conclusion

With the configuration of automatic billing, the entire plan renewal process will be simplified for both the customer and the site administrator. The system ensures that charges are made transparently and efficiently, allowing the user to focus on using the service without worrying about future payments. Automation not only enhances the customer experience but also facilitates the management of subscription plans, making the billing process more streamlined and uninterrupted.
