The Mailchimp Integration plugin allows site managers to seamlessly connect their Mailchimp account with their eDirectory site. This integration enables the configuration of newsletters directly within the eDirectory platform, simplifying the process of managing and engaging with your audience. Follow the steps below to integrate Mailchimp with your eDirectory site and start leveraging the power of email marketing.


Step 1: Access Mailchimp

Step 2: Obtain Your Mailchimp API Key

  • Once logged in, go to your profile by clicking on your account name in the top-right corner.

  • Select the option "Account & billing". 

  • Click on the "Extras" dropdown, and select the "API keys" option.

  • To generate a new API key, click the "Create a Key" button.

  • Name your API key, and click on "Generate Key"

  • Copy the API key by clicking on "Copy To Clipboard".

Notice: When the API key is generated, you will only be able to see it once. Make sure to copy it by clicking on "Copy to Clipboard" before clicking on the button "Done". 

Step 3: Configure Mailchimp Integration in eDirectory

  • Log in to your eDirectory Site Manager.
  • Navigate to the "Settings" and then to"General Settings" section.
  • Click on the "Plugins" tab

  • Find the field "MailChimp Integration Settings", and paste the API key obtained from Mailchimp in the designated field.
  • Press the "Save Changes" button.

Step 4: Set Up Your Mailchimp List

Once the Mailchimp key is configured:

  • A Mailchimp list will be available to receive user registrations from those who sign up for the newsletter on your eDirectory site.

Step 5: Customize the Newsletter Widget

With the Mailchimp integration in place:

  • A newsletter widget becomes available for insertion on customizable pages within your eDirectory site.
  • Navigate to "Design", and click on "Page Editor". Select a page to add the newsletter widget. 
  • Within the desired page, click on "Add a widget"
  • Click on the "Newsletter" option, and add the newsletter widget.  

You can customize the newsletter widget with various options such as:

  • Title: Set the title of the newsletter widget.
  • Description: Provide a brief description to entice users to sign up.
  • Background Image: Upload a background image to enhance the visual appeal of the widget.


By following these steps, you can effectively integrate Mailchimp with your eDirectory site, allowing you to manage newsletters and engage with your audience more efficiently.
