Leads are an essential feature of eDirectory, helping to connect users with businesses listed on the platform. A lead is a message that users can send to either the site manager or the listing owners (sponsors). These messages can range from queries about the services provided to expressing interest in hiring a business. In this article, we will explore how leads are received by both site managers and sponsors, and how they can manage these messages effectively.

Site Managers

For site managers, leads are typically received through the "Contact Us" page on the website.

When users visit this page, they fill out a form with their query and submit it. After submission, users receive a confirmation that their message has been successfully sent.

Once a lead is generated, the site manager can access it in two ways:

  1. Activity Tab → Leads: Leads are stored here and can be viewed by navigating to the Activity section.
  2. Email Notification: The lead notification will also be sent to the site manager's email.

Attention: It's important to note that for leads to be sent via email, the email sending configuration must be properly set up on the site. This can be done under the Settings section. Additionally, make sure to configure the administrator email, where all lead notifications will be sent. For guidance on configuring the email configuration, you can follow this link:  How to Configure Email Sending Configuration

Sponsors (Listing Owners)

Sponsors, or listing owners, receive leads from their individual listing detail pages. Each listing includes a "Send a message" button that users can click to submit their queries.

A form will pop up, allowing the user to send a message directly to the listing owner.

However, it's important to note that the "Send a message" button will only be displayed if the listing owner has filled out the email field in their listing form. Without this, users will not be able to contact the listing owner via the form.

Sponsors can view their leads in two ways:

  1. Sponsor Dashboard: When logged into their dashboard, sponsors can see all leads associated with their listings.
  2. Email Notification: Like site managers, sponsors also receive lead notifications via email.

Although sponsors have direct access to their leads, site managers can also view the leads submitted to sponsors under Activity → Leads in the admin panel.

Attention: Just like with site managers, sponsors will only receive email notifications for leads if the email sending configuration is set up correctly. You can find out how to configure this by following the link:  How to Configure Email Sending Configuration

Filtering Leads

Site managers can filter the leads for specific listings by navigating to Content → Listings. After selecting a particular listing, options will appear, including "Leads."

Clicking this will allow the site manager to view the specific leads associated with that listing.

Downloading Leads

It’s also possible to download all leads in an Excel file for easy management and analysis. To do this, navigate to Promote → Mailing Lists, then select the leads module and download the list. Simply name the file, and the system will generate it for you to download.

Extra leads feature

Boost your revenue by selling valuable leads to your advertisers with the Enhanced Lead Distribution Plugin. This plugin, sold separately, enables premium listing tiers to receive exclusive leads, while restricting access for basic listing tiers. This creates an incentive for advertisers to upgrade to higher-tier plans, increasing your overall revenue.  Click here to read more.

If you already have the plugin installed in your site, please, check out this article with the instructions on how to use this plugin: Enhanced Lead Version 13.5

Leads are an essential tool for maintaining communication between users and businesses on your eDirectory site. By following the steps outlined above, both site managers and sponsors can effectively manage their leads and make the most of their directory’s potential.
